Flexi-learning

Under SOUL Flexi-learning, instructors and learners are involved in a new mode of collaborative learning. With the deployment of Macromedia Flash Communication Server MX, Flexi-learning integrates audio, video, chat and messaging into a simple but powerful learning package. Class sessions can be delivered without the constraint of the physical presence at the same place. This mode of learning facilitates two types of class delivery/course events:

Recorded sessions - FlashCast
Videos or audios prepared by the instructors / filmed during the class can be posted on SOUL so that learners can access them anytime. Learners who did not attend a particular live session can view the recorded session afterwards.

Real-time sessions - Virtual Classroom
Unlike traditional face-to-face teaching model, class sessions can be conducted while instructors and learners may not be physically present at the same place. Only with the Internet connection, presentations, topic discussions, concept sharing and demonstrations can be performed flexibly and all can be achieved at ease.

Basic features of FlashCast
The basic features that participants may utilise when they enter FlashCast include:
Delivery of high quality streamed session videos with smart indexing
Personal bookmarks for the video session
Instant chat with participants
Resources link repository

Under FlashCast, participants can select the session videos that they want to view; they can chat with other online participants to discuss the learning topics or they can ask questions to their instructors. Instructors can answer these questions immediately through the Instant Chat if they are online or when they login to SOUL System. Both synchronous and asynchronous communications can be performed. Besides, instructors can recommend a collection of linked resources.

Basic features of Virtual Classroom
The basic features that participants may utilise when they enter Virtual Classroom include:
  Video conferencing
Group Chat
Presentation and whiteboard sharing
Real-time poll

Virtual Classroom provides a rich environment for conducting highly effective, interactive online training, meeting and other collaborative events.

Participants enter a real-time session where they will be shown with slides and pictures prepared by the instructors. At any time of an activity, participants can ask questions related to the topics, or chat to each other via the Internet. Instructors will have a view of the participants whom want to ask questions. Instructors can then answer their questions instantly one after another. All the text communications of the Group Chat will be archived and participants can access them easily for future reference.

Anonymous survey tool is available for instructors to check the effectiveness of the session instantly. Questions on the teaching topics can be posted by instructors; participants' response will be collected right away and the survey results will be shown to all in the blink of an eye. This effectively facilitates the two-way communications between the instructors and the participants, enabling the events to be conducted with a success.
