SOUL has provided a web-based learning system supporting to different subject areas in HKU SPACE for past four years. By mid January 2008, over 1,960 professional and continuing courses have been launched on SOUL system with 27,500 users. Other daytime courses offered by Community College such as Higher Diploma Programmes and Associate Degree Programmes, have utilized SOUL facilities to support teaching and learning since November 2000 and October 2001 respectively.

Figure 1 shows the growth of total number of professional and continuing courses launched on SOUL system. Figure 2 shows the growth of total number of SOUL users up to January 2008.

The number of SOUL users has increased 2.3 times from September 2001 to January 2008, indicating the growing trend of e-learning in the HKU SPACE.
